This weekend, I listened to an interview video from bilibili. It is about two phd graduates talking about whether you should pursue a phd degree or a tenured position.
I strongly agree with the idea of the 2nd speaker, that “If you treat life like a race and try your best to go to the destination, then what? Your life will be continued. When making your important
life decisions, don’t think this decision will change your life, you own your life, and you can change it. What truly matters is not the decision itself but the specific daily life that follows it”
I think this idea is similar to the “test time scaling” idea in LLM, which if you spend more time and resources making a decision, you will gain many unique experience and knowledge. Whether them 100% useful or not, but they will help you make better decisions in the future.
